2020 - Dot's on a Rothko Series

This small mini series is my ode to Mark Rothko. He is one of the most influential modern artists of the 20th century, as well as a huge inspiration to me and my work. The paintings in this mini series take inspiration from his style, while I add my own expression to make them a little more unique. Where Rothko uses subtle, deep and very smooth layering of color with oil, I attempt to create a similar effect with built-up dots, textures and overlapping colors using acrylic paint.
