Artist's Bio

Peter Markus Jentes (b. 1976) is a Manila-based, multi-exhibited abstract contemporary artist known for using vibrant lines and shapes in his paintings. In 1999, Markus graduated from Pepperdine University having completed his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. During his studies, he formalized his training under the guidance of Professors Joseph Piasentin, Avery Faulkner, Bob Privitt, Sonia Sorell & Leonard Skuro.

While much of his career focused on running his own advertising firm, he learned to capitalize on years of creative experiences, channeling them towards a new wave of artwork that blends minimalism with bold, sharp geometric colors and shapes. This new body of work was first shown to the public in 2019 through his solo exhibit titled "MIAMI".

More recently, Markus's approach towards art has grown to be more abstract-expressionist in nature, where he uses a combination of Acrylics, Spray paints and other mediums. He further departs from his comfort zone of hard-edged geometric paintings to explore new styles, techniques and personal expression, evident in his more recent volume of nature-inspired work.

For Markus, this pivot was not just an artistic shift with his art, but a deeper personal shift within himself. His latest exhibits truly reflect this positive change and shows a much more relaxed approach in his process and creative flow. As a professional who participates in solo and group exhibitions, Markus also tackles commissioned work for private individuals and corporate entities.
